Epomaker TH108 V2 Pro Review: Full-Size Mechanical Perfection

Epomaker TH108 V2 Pro: Full-Size Layout, Deep Sound, and Modern Tech

image

If you refuse to give up your numpad but crave a clean, dense desk setup, the Epomaker TH108 V2 Pro (Black) is a compelling solution. With its 104-key full-size layout, sturdy build, massive 10,000mAh battery, and unique translucent PC keycaps, this keyboard brings both function and flair. Here is my in-depth look at its pros and cons.

First Impressions and Unboxing

Opening the box reveals the heavy black housing. The package includes a dust cover, USB-C cable, 2.4GHz wireless receiver, keycap/switch puller, spare switches, and a user manual—everything essential is included.

The 2.4GHz receiver is a highlight; it features a dedicated storage slot at the bottom, making it easy to travel without losing it. The flexible cable also makes wired usage much more manageable.

Solid Build and Premium Features

The 104-key full layout is the most familiar format for productivity. No need to get used to compact layouts; it’s perfect for Excel and shortcut-heavy workflows.

Despite being ABS plastic, the housing is dense and weighs around 1.5kg. It offers great stability on the desk without being overly heavy or freezing cold like aluminum.

image

The top-right glass screen and front-facing knob are the stars of the show. The screen supports custom GIFs, and the knob placement near the front right makes volume control quick and intuitive.

The side light bars provide a subtle, non-intrusive aesthetic enhancement to any desk setup.

5-Layer Acoustic Treatment

image

The hollow sound typical of entry-level plastic keyboards is nonexistent here. Using a gasket mount design combined with five layers of sound-dampening material—Poron sandwich foam, IXPE switch pad, PET sound enhancer, EPDM switch socket foam, and a bottom silicone layer—the keyboard produces a very clean, refined sound profile.

Creamy Jade Switch: The Pebble Sound

image

The Creamy Jade switches are a major draw. These factory-lubed 5-pin linear switches have a 45gf operating force and a 50gf bottom-out. They offer a smooth, tactile-free experience that, when combined with the dampening foam, produces a satisfying “clack” reminiscent of marbles clicking together.

Translucent PC Keycaps with Carbon Pattern

image

Unlike the standard PBT options on other variants, the black model features translucent polycarbonate (PC) keycaps. The carbon-fiber texture is molded directly into the keycaps, not printed, which provides a fascinating tactile and visual experience.

image

The English legends appear to be silk-screened. When the RGB is on, the light diffuses beautifully through the translucent caps.

Web-Based Software

The web-based driver is a welcome change. You don’t need to install dedicated, bloated software to manage custom GIFs or key settings.

image

The UI is a bit utilitarian and requires some learning to master macro settings or GIF frame adjustments. However, it is fully featured, supporting SOCD and MT settings for enthusiasts.

Battery Life and Performance

The 10,000mAh battery is truly impressive. With RGB turned off, I have gone nearly a month without needing a charge.

image

Whether playing rhythm games like DJMAX RESPECT V via the 2.4GHz dongle or tackling heavy Excel work, the performance was flawless with no noticeable latency.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Thocky Sound: Creamy Jade switches paired with 5-layer dampening.
  • Unique Keycaps: Translucent PC with a carbon texture.
  • Massive Battery: 10,000mAh for true wireless freedom.
  • Sturdy Full-Size Layout: Professional stability and productivity.

Cons

  • Typing Volume: Might be too loud for a quiet office environment.
  • No Localized Legends: Only English legends are present, which may be a barrier for some.
  • Confusing Naming: It’s a 104-key board, but called TH108.

Final Thoughts
