Logitech’s Ditto Edition K98M Has Me Rethinking My Black Desk
My desk is filled with black equipment. I like the look and the sense of consistency, but sometimes the same restrained palette feels a little bleak. I was ready for something that might change the mood when I saw the Logitech Ditto Edition announcement. The pastel purple is far from my usual choice. I can easily imagine it standing out by itself among the dark devices, which gives me pause. Yet I keep looking at the pictures and thinking how cute the collection is. That is the unusual pull here: even when I suspect it won’t match, I still want to have a piece of it nearby.

The Alto Keys K98M is the model I keep returning to. The bundle includes four accent caps showing Ditto and its transformations into Charmander, Pikachu, and Bulbasaur, a tin, and a Ditto palm rest. The Lilac Marble switch version, the most obviously Ditto-like choice, has already sold out. I’ve used other 98-key boards, although they weren’t Logitech models. Keeping the numpad and gaining mouse space appealed, but the utility-key placement bothered me enough that those boards eventually sat unused. That’s why I hesitate about the layout even while the design tempts me. With the promotion’s Ditto caps fitted, I can imagine it standing out very clearly on my black desk.

They protect the equipment while letting the character design do something more practical than simply decorate a box. I keep imagining the purple pouch attached to my black backpack. The contrast could make an unexpected little accent, even if it doesn’t follow the restrained color scheme I normally choose for equipment.

I normally choose gear for performance and efficiency, so a Pokémon collaboration is a departure. But a small object that lifts my mood can make working at the desk more pleasant. Even if it looks out of place among the black equipment, I’m finding this collection difficult to ignore.
