I’ve had the Epomaker HE75 V2 TMR on my desk for two weeks. It’s a 75% board with gaming features, but Rapid Trigger wasn’t what impressed me most. The substantial typing feel and light through the translucent black caps made the stronger everyday impression.

Magnetic boards don’t always sound this deep or feel this solid. There are no distracting rattles or loose noises. Despite the gaming specifications, I’d first point it toward someone who values how a board looks and feels on the desk.

Unboxing and Included Accessories

Inside the box, you’ll find the keyboard itself, a USB-C cable, a 2.4GHz receiver, and a combined keycap and switch puller. It also includes extra switches and a keycap to replace the knob if you prefer a key instead. The receiver stores neatly under the left kickstand, so you don’t have to worry about losing it.

Translucent Black Design with Stunning RGB

It features an 80-key 75% layout with a knob on the top right. It measures 324×138×43mm, and the kickstands offer three adjustable angles: 5.8°, 9°, and 12°.

The black model features translucent keycaps that allow RGB light to glow softly through the entire cap. The side RGB blends with gem-cut decorative accents, making it sparkle quite brilliantly when turned on.

The knob stands out, with enough surrounding room that a small screen on some future version wouldn’t look out of place.

TMR Sensor: Reading Resistance Instead of Voltage

TMR stands for Tunnel Magnetoresistance. While Hall effect sensors read the voltage generated by a magnetic field, TMR sensors measure changes in electrical resistance caused by the magnetic field. Because it detects the same movement with a larger signal, it offers distinct advantages in sensitivity and stability.

Epomaker explains that this results in lower latency, higher accuracy, and better power efficiency, putting less strain on the battery. However, Hardware Busters, who tested it alongside the standard V2, noted they didn’t find a meaningful difference in response speed. It is fairer to view the advantages as being in precision and energy efficiency rather than perceived speed.

Hybrid Hot-Swappable PCB: Switching Between Magnetic and Mechanical

Hot-swappable PCB supporting magnetic and mechanical switches

Another key feature of the TMR version is its hybrid hot-swappable socket. It accepts not only magnetic switches but also standard 3-pin and 5-pin mechanical switches. Since the standard HE75 V2 only supports magnetic switches, this is the biggest difference between the two models.

That flexibility lets you use adjustable magnetic actuation for games, then try the different physical feel of mechanical switches for typing or code. Being able to change its character is useful.

FR4 Plate, 5-Layer Sound Dampening, and Housing Structure

Internal gasket mount and sound dampening layers

The housing is made of ABS, while the plate is FR4. FR4 uses the same non-magnetic glass-fiber epoxy material as PCBs, making it a great match for sensors reading magnetic positions. There are no flex cuts, so while it uses a gasket mount, it leans toward a firmer typing feel.

Inside, there are five dampening layers: latex foam, switch pads, PET pads, sound-absorbing foam, and a silicone base. The thin PET pad refines the sound profile rather than dampening it completely. The bottom silicone adds weight while eliminating hollow case ping.

Creamy Jade Magnetic Switches

The stock switches are factory-lubed Creamy Jade magnetic switches with POM stems. The initial actuation force is 30gf minimum, while the bottom-out force reaches up to 55gf. The key pressure feels heavier than expected, so light-switch lovers should consider this carefully. Total travel distance is 3.5mm, with actuation points adjustable between 0.1 and 3.3mm in 0.01mm increments. Polling rate goes up to 8000Hz over both wired and 2.4GHz connections.

Translucent PC Keycaps and Rounded Legends

Translucent keycaps showing rounded legend font

The keycaps are Cherry profile matte translucent PC with dual-legend silk-screen printing. The legends are rendered in a large, rounded font right in the center of each key. Because of the printing method, the legends might fade over long-term use. More than that, the large rounded font in the middle softens the sharp impression of the translucent keycaps. If the legend font had been a bit cleaner, there would be very little to complain about.

A Deep, Solid Typing Feel and Sound Unlike Typical Magnetic Keyboards

When people think of magnetic switch keyboards, they often expect a light sound profile. The Epomaker HE75 V2 TMR is far from that expectation. From the moment you press a key, you feel weight at your fingertips, followed by a consistently deep typing experience. The non-flex-cut FR4 plate supports the bottom firmly. The stabilizers are noise-free right out of the box, so there is no rattle even when striking the spacebar.

The typing sound matches the deep feel. There is no case ping or sharp clack. However, because it alters the sound profile rather than muting it, the typing volume isn’t quiet. If you work in a quiet office setting, it is worth keeping in mind.

Customization is handled via the EPOMAKER V4 driver. It supports both a downloadable desktop app and a browser-based web driver, letting you choose whatever suits your setup. Rapid Trigger can also be toggled on and off using keyboard shortcuts alone.

Two-Week Hands-On Impressions

Switching on the lighting changes the atmosphere of the desk. During the review period, it was the design that repeatedly drew my eye: RGB spreading through the translucent black caps, with the jewel-cut accents around the side lights adding another sparkle. The effect doesn’t remain confined to a tiny strip at the edge. The keyboard becomes a prominent part of the setup’s overall impression. That is why I keep returning to appearance when describing the experience, even though the board has a long list of gaming features. The decorative lighting feels central to its identity rather than an extra added after the typing hardware was finished.

The rattle-free build quality supports the typing feel perfectly. There was no creaking housing or loose stabilizer rattle on large keys. As a result, the deep typing feel and sound are delivered cleanly without distortion. It proves that the five dampening layers aren’t just for show.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Eye-catching design combining translucent keycaps and gem-accented side RGB
  • Hybrid hot-swappable PCB accepting both magnetic and mechanical switches
  • Remarkably deep typing feel for a magnetic keyboard with rattle-free build quality

Cons

  • Large, printed rounded legends in the center of the keycaps
  • Heavy actuation force might cause finger fatigue for light-touch typists (though great for heavy typists like me)

Final Verdict on the Epomaker HE75 V2 TMR

I find the Epomaker HE75 V2 TMR more persuasive on the desk than in its list of specifications. The lighting gives me a reason to look at it again, and the substantial response gives me a reason to enjoy typing on it. Those everyday impressions are what remain after the review period. There is also another direction to explore later by changing the switches, which means the board isn’t limited to the first configuration I tried. The main reservations are clear, particularly the large rounded legends and the heavier feel for light-touch users. For my preferences, the visual impact and solid typing character are the stronger memory.
