The Ultimate All-in-One Hub: Orico MG7-G2
While I primarily use my Sony ZV-1 for video production, my smartphone is always with me to capture 4K footage in daily life. Unboxing and Components
Opening the box reveals the aluminum main unit, a short flat USB-C cable, a thermal pad specifically for M.2 2230, rubber fixing pins, and a magnetic ring. The included cable is designed to fit perfectly when attached to the back of a smartphone, allowing for a clean setup. Naturally, an SSD is not included, so you will need to purchase one separately.
Aluminum Build and MagSafe Compatibility
The device comes in three colors, all finished with an aluminum alloy that showcases a premium metallic texture.
It fits naturally into my black-toned studio environment used for tech reviews. Although I am not using an iPhone, the MagSafe-compatible case allows the device to attach firmly to the back. While it adds a bit of thickness, it feels like attaching a small power bank, making it comfortable enough to hold.
Versatile 4-Side Port Configuration

Removing a single screw reveals the dense internal layout. You can install a 2230-specification NVMe SSD. The drive slides into the slanted slot in the center and is secured with a screw. Orico has managed to cram various I/O ports and controller chipsets into a compact, palm-sized form factor by utilizing every inch of the board.
Samsung DeX Environment
While Orico heavily markets this for iPhones, I find its efficiency shines even more when used with Samsung smartphones for a DeX environment. By keeping an HDMI cable, power supply, keyboard, mouse, and speakers connected to the Orico dock, I can turn my smartphone into a mobile workstation instantly. Having this set up in my remote workspace means I just need to plug in my phone, which is incredibly convenient.
Who is this for?
I highly recommend this for video creators who frequently record 4K footage and need on-site data backups. I suggest pairing it with a 2230-spec SSD, such as a WD compact SSD model, for excellent power efficiency. In a desk environment, you can even use it as a stationary docking station by connecting it to your peripherals.
