The Sagrada Família is a world-renowned Catholic basilica representing Barcelona, Spain, and is the unfinished masterpiece of the genius architect Antoni Gaudí. It boasts unique structures inspired by nature and magnificent details, and it is a historic construction project that has been ongoing for over 140 years since ground was broken in 1882.
Released in time for the 100th anniversary of Antoni Gaudí’s passing, this Sagrada Família set breaks away from the trajectory of previous LEGO Architecture lineups.
This is a project model of unprecedented scale, capturing the unfinished cathedral of Barcelona in a 62cm-tall structure. It implements light-transmitting stained glass and compresses facades with different architectural styles into the same proportions as the actual building.

Is This Scale Manageable?
With a height of 62cm and a depth of 39cm, this volume is not something a standard desk or shelf can easily support. Sitting in front of my desk and looking it over, I can’t quite see how it would fit.
At this size, you have to treat it not just as something to fill a spare corner, but as an independent centerpiece. I’m already excited imagining the color palette when lighting is added to pass through the internal special bricks, but the physical spatial constraints are a major hurdle.
Is It Assembly, or Another Act of Construction?
The production process for a 12,060-piece model follows the actual timeline of how the building was erected.
The assembly sequence reportedly starts with the apse containing the crypt, moves to the Nativity Facade—the only part Gaudí completed during his lifetime—and the Passion Facade, followed by the nave and western sacristy, the six towers, and finally concludes with the eastern sacristy and the Glory Facade.
Even if I were to purchase it, this long-term project, which could take months to finish, would be a daunting journey to undertake on my desk. I’d have to manage the stray parts that appear as I build each floor while simultaneously filming for reviews. However, the experience of building the skeleton from the ground up is more compelling than any spec sheet.
The Hidden Trap: A Price Over 1 Million Won
Looking at international trends, there’s a production issue worth noting. Due to the unprecedented size, the manufacturing line is under strain, causing the original summer release schedule to be pushed back to November.
But what stands out even more is the price: 1,169,000 KRW. I’ve never personally encountered a LEGO set costing over a million won, so my hands are shaking a bit at the thought. LOL.
There is also the fatal flaw of its modular structure. Moving this beast intact when moving houses or rearranging the studio is next to impossible. You have to endure the hassle of disassembling and reassembling it by parts, which is a definitive barrier for an environment that requires frequent changes.

Sorry, everyone. LOL. I’ve decided to take a rain check. Between the hassle of maintenance and the price pressure of 1.16 million won, plus the effort required to order a custom acrylic display case and clear out a main exhibition space, I just can’t bring myself to do it. It is a bit sad, though—I really wanted to see the contrast of the magnificent model set against a dark-toned space with light leaking through it.
