Iriver BVC-APM360 PC Earphones: The Microphone Is the Draw

Playing games with friends while chatting on Discord calls for something different from my dedicated music earphones. I already have high-end IEMs and larger audio equipment on the desk, but none was a casual wired pair with a microphone that I could reach for without much thought. That gap, rather than a search for another serious listening setup, was why I tried the Iriver BVC-APM360.
Unboxing and Contents

The box focuses on useful components: earphones, S/M/L silicone tips, and the detachable boom microphone. The included Y-shaped AUX extension was the detail I appreciated most. It separates the microphone and audio connections so the pair can plug into a desktop PC immediately. For someone intending to use the computer’s connections directly, having that splitter supplied saves an extra step before starting a conversation or game.
Practical and Understated Design

Matte black plastic keeps the appearance subdued. It isn’t a showy design, but the light shells put little pressure on the ears. Silicone fins brace against the outer ear and help hold them in position. The cable is soft enough to handle easily, with volume adjustment, a function button, and another microphone in its inline control. Those are practical features for the casual role I wanted this pair to fill.
Performance Gains with the Boom Mic

The real reason this product is marketed for gaming is the detachable boom mic. Standard inline mics are often far from your mouth, making them prone to picking up keyboard clatter and ambient noise. The left earpiece has a port for the boom mic, which allows you to position it right near your mouth for significantly improved voice clarity. Since it uses a direct analog 3.5mm connection, there is zero latency compared to wireless headsets.
Real-World Usage and a Quick Lesson

I used a rhythm game to check the response and had no trouble matching inputs to the sound. Voice chat exposed my own setup mistake instead. After connecting to the desktop, I couldn’t get Discord to hear me. The lesson was to check the DAC connection rather than assume the microphone was faulty. Many recent 3.5mm DACs don’t accept microphone input even when the socket uses a 4-pole connection.
Sound Quality: A Necessary Compromise

The comfortable fit and voice pickup satisfy me more than the sound quality for music. Strong bass emphasizes game effects, but can feel congested if you’re accustomed to the clean detail of expensive earphones. This is a balance intended for following in-game sounds and talking to friends. I would judge it in that role rather than expect it to take over from the music equipment already on my desk.
One fit detail helped with the sound, too. Rather than push the tips deep into the ear canal, let the silicone fin provide the support and keep the tip closer to the outer opening. In that position, the earphones remain held by the outer ear and the sound improves a little.
Final Verdict and Buying Tips
Discounted listings on marketplaces and shopping sites put it around 20,000 KRW. That is a reasonable role for a light pair used for conversation and casual games. It doesn’t deliver high-end resolution, but removing a heavy headset and simply plugging in to chat is sometimes exactly what I want. For that everyday purpose, it has earned a place within reach.
