Why the Mammoth75 Remains My Daily Driver
In my black-themed desk setup, one device has held the main spot longer than any other: the Mammoth75 by WuqueStudio. I’ve gone through many keyboards over the years, but at the end of the day, this is the one I find myself reaching for first every single time.
What I Look for in a Mechanical Keyboard
I have very specific preferences when it comes to choosing a keyboard:
- A 75% layout that includes essential keys without interfering with mouse movement.
- A knob for intuitive volume control.
- A distinct bezel between the arrow keys and utility keys to reduce typos and provide visual balance.
The Mammoth75 meets these criteria perfectly, which is why it has remained my primary keyboard ever since I bought it. I don’t see it being replaced until a truly superior alternative comes along.
The Harmony of Black, White, and Metal Artisans
The housing I’m currently using is the high-end version in black with a PVD mirror bottom. For keycaps, I used PBTFans’ WoB (White on Black) as a base, mixed with BoW (Black on White) on the number row to create a high-contrast monochrome look. I essentially created my own “alert” style design by combining two sets of keycaps. I chose the simple legends over the standard ones because they suit the keyboard’s design much better.
Aside from the large gold knob on the top right, which is the most eye-catching feature, my favorite detail is the metal black glass-art heart artisan keycap on the top left—it’s the perfect finishing touch. Because it’s a metal artisan, it doesn’t fade even with constant use, so it stays in pristine condition despite being my primary ESC key. It adds a solid sense of weight and character to the black housing.
A Split Spacebar That Tells a Story
Inside, I’ve set it up with a PC plate, an M1 wired PCB, WuqueStudio Heavy Tactile switches, and V3.1 stabilizers to achieve a typing feel that is both substantial and clean.
For the bottom row, I’ve configured a split spacebar using a 2.25U and 2.75U combination, flipped in an inverted orientation to suit my typing habits. The spacebars are from Aifei; despite being durable PBT, the surfaces have already started to shine from constant use. I suppose it’s a testament to how well-worn and perfectly suited this board is to my hands.

To be honest, I only snapped these three photos in a hurry for a keyboard-related event without any special setup. Seeing how naturally it fits into the atmosphere of my desk even in quick shots really reinforces why it’s my all-time favorite.
